1937 3 Proof Crown Set of Edward VIII
from Southern Rhodesia
Edward VIII became the King of England in January
1936 upon the death of his father George V. A couple British
Commonwealth countries managed to get a couple of legal tender
coins out before Edward abdicated the throne to marry American
Wallis Simpson.
There several medalic issues and test pieces
issues, I'm not sure where these fall.
For your consideration is a set of three Crown
sized coins bearing the effigy of Edward VIII. Issued in three
metals, Sterling Silver, Bronze and Copper.
All three are in
Proof condition and have been housed in a Capital Plastic
holder bearing the inscription SOUTHERN RHODESIA EDWARD VIII
1937
MEDAL/CROWNS. The copper medal says Gold Plate Copper beneath.
The crowns are housed in Cointain Holders within the Capital
Plastic.
